non stop eating all day

Morning: After visiting Pretty Dog (my favourite ladies' fashion boutique in Sydney) with Emi, we went to Black Star pastry. Everytime I go there, I feel like a little kid who's looking into the window of a toy store. The pastries/desserts look beautiful. I didn't take a photo of the cinnamon scroll I shared with Emi but it was perfect with the organic chai latte that I had. :)

Had lunch at Four Ate Five, which was recently rated 5 stars by Time Out Sydney. We both ordered salads and omg!! Best salad ever. Mine had poached chicken, rocket, ricotta, cucumber, tomato, and beetroot, with a side of sour dough bread. I wanted seconds!

Coffee was amazing too. It was good strong coffee but didn't leave a bitter after-taste. Definitely want to come back again and try their other dishes, especially the hamburgers with hand-cut chips. MMMMM.

Dinner was at the Spicy Sichuan Restaurant on Cunningham St, Sydney. It wasn't the best Chinese hot pot I've had, however the place is clean and it's nice that they give you seat covers to cover your jacket if you've got it hanging on the seat. It's a really good idea that they do this, because after our dinner, we all reeked of hot pot! (x_x)

friend's birthday

Caught up with Highschool friends and had dinner at Manmaruya. It was also my friend Michelle's birthday. Annie and I got her a cute Tatty Devine ring. :)

Probably my favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney. Love it because the dishes aren't overly sweet like at most Thai places. The "Larb Gai" is my favourite! Also, all the above dishes for under $40!

surry hills pt. 2

My outfit on the day: Karen Walker blouse, Urban Outfitters scallop shorts, Merino cardigan, Lover tote bag, Tristan Blair shoes.

For dinner, we tried this new Japanese noodle place called "Mappen". It's a self-service type of restaurant where you choose your type of noodles (udon, ramen, or soba) and add-ons, such as the assortment of tempura. If noodles aren't your thing, you can also choose curry rice or don-buri (beef bowl). They also have miso soup and onigiri (rice balls)! I had the udon and I was surprised at how tasty it was cause udon is usually pretty bland for me. What was even more surprising was the PRICE. I forgot the exact amount but I paid $7~ for it!! Very worth the price IMO. Only down side is that it gets packed and there aren't many seats so you'll have to eat and leave straight away. However, definitely going back again!

surry hills pt.1

My friend Bonnie has a photography assignment, based on Surry Hills so on Saturday, Mika and I tagged along and kept her company. We visited a small bike shop called Tokyo Bike and we were ooh-ing and ahh-ing over all the colourful bikes. Mika and I decided to test-ride them. I hadn't ridden a bike in ages so I was a bit wobbly but it was still so much fun! Made us all want bikes...

Afterwards they took me to this cafe they discovered before (but was closed) and luckily it was open!

I had a skim latte and macarons. The macarons were amazing. One was salted peanut butter & caramel and the other was strawberries. So crunchy, fluffy, and sweet!

Straight after, we walked down to Bourke St bakery and bought another sweet thing to munch on. Hehe. Should be more careful with my sugar intake...

lazy sunday

1. Had a late lunch with Mika at my favourite burger joint, Grill'd. The "mustard & pickled" burger is amazing. Juicy, crunchy, and just so so tasty. mmMMmm.

2. I bought these because I read from somewhere that Lilo has been eating these while in jail. I couldn't even finish them, they are the worst tasting candy ever.

Bit delayed but I've joined foursquare-! It's getting addictive, although I probably look more anti-social than usual as I get my phone out as soon as I get seated at a table to "check-in". However it's good that I can keep track of the places I've been to. Here are some pics of food that I've eaten during the week!

Softshell crab salad from Thanh Binh (111 King Street, Newtown). Always order this everytime I go there! Delicious!

Rocket salad (with pears, walnuts, parmesan, and white balsamic dressing) from Gecko Cafe (Shop 18, Grande Pde, Brighton Le Sands). I actually ate so much on the day so I wanted to eat a light dinner. I chose a rocket salad, and it was actually filling! It was a fairly large sized dish so I couldn't finish it. It looks so healthy doesn't it? :D

Nutella Calzone from Gecko Cafe. Soooo... I wasn't planning on eating a lot but I'm the type of person who HAS to eat dessert to finish any meal. I shared this dish with a friend and we both couldn't finish it. It's the size of a huge pide! Massive! and full of melted nutella spread. Sooo yummy.

I should really start taking my digital camera with me so that I can take proper pictures! Sorry for the bad quality iphone photos. :(
